I have always been fascinated by the conceptual work of Marcel Duchamp and I tend to adopt a ‘ready made’ approach to my moving image work.
In 2018 I started to create short 'ready-made' moving image works, editing together material that I film with no agenda and sound that I record by chance. The topic is never imposed on the material, but it is the lens through which the material is collected in the first place; trying to apply inductive research, I aim at ‘learned intuition’.
During the pandemic, I embraced and expanded my practice, creating a series of home-specific works which were exhibited by Fabrica (I), the Centre for the Less Good Idea (SA) and the College Art Association Annual Conference (NY, US)
In time, something was shot with intention, but I keep using this practice as a self-investigation into authorship: how much agency can I take away without losing my role as an author and an artist?
