Principles

Seven participants engaged in the workshop. All the participants experienced theatre and performance only in their Secondary School, therefore the goal was to expose them to some basic principles, in particular, tonight I proposed some theatrical games about action and reaction. At the same time, we talked about the different ways in which anyone can interpret the same instructions - which relates to the different ways people remember the same historical episodes. We also started to talk about how to represent absences - i.e. things that are not there: through miming or embodying them, and exploring different theatre tecniques.

Games:

  • Warm up (parts of the body)
  • Ya
  • Throw and catch
  • Throw and catch/contact with distance
  • Improvisation: catch the fly and throw it out of the door
  • Sit and stand up in different ways
  • Walking in circle
  • Perimeter and diagonals
  • Improvisation with objects in the circle
  • Scenes with an object and max 3 people

The improvisation with the objects developed in a way that made me think about the text I want to insert about mental asylum.
